Designated giving, new endowed funds

The ART provides members with newly created designated giving options and endowed funds. Donors may still choose to make an undesignated, general gift.

Donors can designate their gifts to support education or research programs. They can also stipulate that their donation should simply be used where most needed. The ART will ensure that donations received as designated gifts are used to support programs within the specified area.

In addition, donors may designate their gifts for one of the ART’s endowed funds. To date, three have been established:

  • Gail G. Shapiro Clinical Faculty Award Endowment
  • ART General Endowment
  • Faculty Development Award Endowment

Donors may establish a new endowed fund to support a particular initiative if the funds are intended to support education and/or research in a designated geographic area or at a specific institution. Funds may also support a designated award program or research area.

A minimum initial gift or combination of gifts in the amount of $100,000 is required to establish a new endowed fund. Once established, gifts of all levels can be designated to that endowment. Only 5% of any endowed fund’s value, an amount typically generated through the interest earned on the fund’s investments, will be spent annually on the programs the fund is endowed to support.

These expanded giving options allow the AAAAI to enhance efforts that support A/I training programs, support practicing A/Is and the patients they care for, increase educational opportunities for members, and foster research.
